1985 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz
Originally derived from "El Hombre Dorado" meaning man in gold, this king's coronation included him being covered in gold dust, then submerged into a sacred river. The story then changed to "Lost City of Gold" which fascinated the Spanish explorers for centuries, although all to no avail. Finally in the early 1900's, after many attempts, the story was realized as myth, and trying to find the King's lost civilization or his city…

Cadillac yellow beige with stainless steel roof, and yellow beige landau top, bathe this pristine edition of this 1985 Biarritz. 90,985 original miles on this prize winning Jr. AACA car, it has been cared for, and pampered.
Exterior
Yellow Beige is on the surface of the straight steel panels which are minding their gaps. Mid 80’s square and rectangle design can be seen throughout this car, particularly on the front with the headlight and turn signal light cluster setup which flanks an egg crate outward V styled grille. A nice shiny bumper below is the bottom frame, and from the edge of this as it wraps around the front quarter, a stainless rocker trim bands the remainder of this car. We do note that the filler panels are coming apart and, in some cases, missing, a common malady for this era Eldorado. Trim and badging look excellent with no fading or dimpling. and the outward rake of the taillights add a nice touch to the back of this buttoned up example. A styling cue taken from the 1957/58 Eldorado Brougham. The rear half of the roof is covered with a yellow beige heavily padded landau vinyl top, accented with “opera” lights. Fit and finish are fair, and body is solid. Cadillac spoked wheel covers add to the overall “bling “of the vehicle.
Interior
The interior features “pillowed” style “tufted” leather seating in tan finish. All seating shows normal wear for age. Dash and instrumentation is original, and no chips or cracks are evident on dash. The steering wheel is in fair condition, and adjustable up and down. The headliner is free of any blemishes, and in good condition with no fading or tears. The car is equipped with power steering, power brakes, power driver seat, climate control, cruise control, power windows, power mirrors, and an AM/FM Cassette player. The plush beige carpeting throughout is generally clean and shows some staining.
Drivetrain
Peering into an original unrestored engine bay, we see some surface rust, some dulling and some patina surrounding an HT4100 V8 DFI original engine. The DFI stands for Digital Fuel Injection and it is a throttle body delivery system as opposed to the TPI which utilizes ports to house the injectors. On the back is a TH325-4L 4-speed automatic transmission sending power to a 3.15 geared front end final drive.
Undercarriage
Some surface rust and plenty of black patina surfaces are seen underneath. No structural problems are noted. Independent coil sprung rear suspension, and an independent torsion bar suspension on front are seen underneath, as are power disc brakes all around.
Drive-Ability
I just can’t get enough of these buttoned tufted and pillow topped leather seats. There is something endearing about leather that is broken in, the soft warm surfaces contoured to my posterior like a well fitted glove…but…I digress and this car started right up, ran flawlessly, and is a wonderful comfortable cruiser with a kick.
A luxury classic that runs well, looks great, and has room for bringing around some extra friends. I can imagine a night at the club, laughing at each other’s success stories, and then riding home in pure comfort…mmmmmmmm delicious!
