This 13K-mile 1984 Ford Mustang GT convertible is one of 5,260 20th Anniversary models produced and powered by a 5.0-liter high-output carbureted V8 mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lok limited-slip rear axle. It was garage-kept in New Mexico before being relocated to California under current ownership. Recent work includes service to the brakes and EGR system. Finished in Oxford White over a Canyon Red cloth interior, this third-generation Fox-body Mustang is now offered with an uninstalled Edelbrock carburetor, service records, documentation, an owner’s manual, a window sticker, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear California title in the seller’s name.

The third generation of the Mustang pony car rolled out in the 1979 model year on the Fox platform in two-door coupe and three-door hatchback body styles. The front fascia was restyled in 1983 with a revised grille; the rear received wider taillights with dedicated amber turn signals. This garage-kept 1984 Mustang is one of 5,261 units sold in 20th Anniversary livery for the year and features a power-operated white retractable top. It comes finished in Oxford White (9L) with triple red rocker GT350 stripes, body side moldings, fog lamps, and pony fender emblems. The seller has provided detailed images of specific cosmetic blemishes in the gallery to the right..

The four-lug cast-aluminum wheels are wrapped in tires with black sidewall lettering.

The interior is fitted with Canyon Red (D) cloth bucket front and bench rear seats, matched to the door panels, dash, center console, carpeting, and floor mats. A unique dash badge identifies this Mustang as unit #1547 in the limited-production run of 20th Anniversary edition cars. Features include air conditioning, a map light, a carpeted dash mat, and an AM/FM/cassette radio with an auxiliary amplifier. The seller notes there is a leak in the air conditioning system. They believe the vacuum valve for the cruise control is inoperative but have not determined whether or not the cruise control system is functional.

Instrumentation includes an 85-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The mechanical odometer reads 13,700 miles, which is supported by the CARFAX report.

The 5.0-liter high-output V8 features a carburetor and was rated at 175 horsepower when new. The valve cover gaskets were replaced in 2009 and the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve and gasket were replaced in 2019. In February of this year, the air conditioning condenser was replaced and the system was recharged. Power is transferred to the back wheels via a console-shifted 5-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lok rear axle.

Steering is power-assisted. Power braking is accomplished by front discs and rear drums. The brake master cylinder and the drum brake wheel cylinders were replaced in 2020 per the service records.

The CARFAX report shows an accident-free vehicle history in New Mexico and California. The sale includes an uninstalled Edelbrock carburetor, service records, documentation, an owner’s manual, and a window sticker showing a $15,610 MSRP.
