We’re in the era where the SUV is king, so how cool is an opportunity at the a highly original example of the father of the king? This suburban was special ordered by a GM employee in Flint Michigan at Summerfield Chevrolet Cohas and has been owned by the same family most of its life. It retains many of its unmistakable vintage features like the special 2 year only color (Willoway Green and Frost White) two-tone paint, full up-market Silverado trim, chrome bumpers, and factory wheels. While this does have a great vintage look, it still knows how to be a great workhorse today, too. The dual rear doors swing out wide to swallow plenty of cargo.
Inside this really has a great survivor-style presentation, right down to the button-top seatbacks. You get three rows of wide benches for seating up to nine total with seatbelts – only special-order Suburbans do that today! With plenty of room behind the third row for cargo, this is the ideal machine for everything from camping to tailgating. It even has the right features for long-haul comfort like cruise control, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, and cold-blowing air conditioning now running with modern R134a.
Under the hood is Chevrolet’s powerful and modern fuel injection 5.3L LS V8. So you’ll love the way this one fires up easily and runs strong. The V8 inhales deeply from the customer intake, and it exhales with a sweet tone thanks to a dual exhaust that was updated when the engine swap was performed. Because this will find its best life as an easy-driving classic, you get great features for the road, like the 4L80 automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes w/discs up front. If you are looking for a rust free suburban this one is Not it. Everything structurally on the frame including body mounts are solid and Floor pans are solid but rockers, doors, and bottoms of the fenders on both sides are little rusty.
