Volkswagen launched this Sun Bug edition that featured a unique color combination and an unusually long list of standard equipment! A trip to the Volkswagen showrooms in 1974 could make a mundane afternoon feel like a holiday! Volkswagen’s marketing department went all out, and the brochure even included the lyrics to a song called “”Let a Little Sunshine Into Your Life!”” written by Keith Connes specifically for the car.
This Edition featured a sunroof that even had an air deflector! 15-inch steel wheels, a padded four-spoke steering wheel, full carpeting, A locking glove box, rear window defogger, adjustable Sport seats with leatherette inserts, a Rosewood trimmed dash, and a center console!
The only color they were offered in is that eye-catching shade of gold you see worn on the car called Harvest Gold Metallic (paint code L99B).
Volkswagen made no changes in the engine bay. Beetle-based Sun Bugs were powered by a 1600cc Air Cooled engine mated to a four-speed manual gearbox!
