From the 25 car Claude O. collection. He had someone maintaining his cars full time. His wife said he wanted to be able to drive any car at any time.
EXTERIOR: I am sure it’s better than new. Black hides nothing and this one has nothing to hide. Straight as a rifle barrel, panels fit right. No rust or damage. It’s a factory Starlight black car. The paint is polished like a mirror, you can read the fine print from our contract in the reflection! Slick jambs. Weatherstrips and seals were replaced. All of the chrome and stainless trim looks new or restored. The red 2+2 emblems are sharp. The power antenna works. The black power top looks new. It rides on a set of polished nostalgic Hurst wheels and radial redline tires. The nubs are not even wore off the tread yet.
INTERIOR: The red pops against the black paint. The 2+2s come with bucket seats, these have been recushioned and upholstered. They also have optional headrests. Door panels and top boot were replaced, it’s all the same shade of red. Dash area is mint. It has a factory tachometer. Working reverb radio, have you ever heard one? It has a deluxe wheel on a tilt column. Red seatbelts front and back.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Three 421 engines were available in the 2+2: a 4 barrel, a tri-power and a tri-power HO. This one is equipped with a correct WJ code HO making 376 hp! It is restored like factory new. Restored carbs, correct chrome valve covers and fuel filter. Upgraded MSD distributor. Correct hoses and clamps with an upgraded aluminum radiator. Power steering- hoses, steering box, rag joint all look new. Power brake system is restored, cadmium plated booster. Squirters are all hooked up, new hood insulation, battery is properly secured etc.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Big trunk with spotless metal. Neatly spatter painted. Under the trunk lid and jamb are gloss black. The well liner and weatherstrip were replaced. It has a rally ll wheel for a spare.
UNDERSIDE: Body was off the frame for restoration. The metal floors, braces, rockers are spotless. Smooth as a chalkboard, painted satin black. The chassis was disassembled rebuilt and detailed. It has the ride and handling package with swaybars front and back. The front end was completely rebuilt- bushings, balljoints, shocks, steering etc. In back it’s rebuilt and upgraded with tubular control arms. Rebuilt drum brake system. Replaced e-brake assembly, stainless brake lines. Replaced fuel system including the tank, sending unit and lines. Custom exhaust sounds great, has x-pipe and turn down tips tucked neatly under the car. Bottom of the motor is spotless, freeze plugs still look new. It has high torque starter. The entire transmission assembly is restored like new- bell housing, shift linkage and the Munci 4-speed. Rebuilt driveshaft and a saf-t-track 10 bolt rear. It looks new under this car.
The 2+2 was Pontiac’s full size muscle car. This one is like no other, it is outstanding!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car’s condition in detail.
**These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you will be given a 1 year membership.
