Description

This 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS convertible is finished in black over black leather and powered by a 383ci stroker V8 paired with a four-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Equipment includes a black power-operated soft top, 17″ Rally-style wheels with red-line tires, power steering, power brakes, chrome trim, power windows, a center console, and a vintage-look AM/FM stereo with a CD player. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2022, and a body-off refurbishment completed within the last 10 years consisted of repainting the body, re-chroming the trim, reupholstering the interior, replacing the soft top, and installing QA1 suspension components. This Malibu SS convertible is offered with a clean Oregon title.

The body was reportedly repainted in black, the trim was re-chromed, and the power-operated black convertible top was replaced as part of a refurbishment completed under previous ownership. Features include quad headlamps, “Malibu SS” badging on the rear fenders, a black leather top boot, and a dual-exit exhaust with polished finishers.

Steel 17″ Rally-style wheels wear trim rings as well as hubcaps and are fitted with red-line tires measuring 205/50 up front and 235/55 out back. Stopping is provided by power disc brakes up front with rear drums, and the car is equipped with power steering. QA1 suspension components installed at the time of the refurbishment include the shocks, sway bars, and tubular front control arms.

The front bucket and rear bench seats have been reupholstered in black with gray inserts, 4 seat belts, and they are complemented by a black dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Additional equipment includes polished dashboard trim, a center console, power windows, a locking glovebox, a Lokar shifter, “Chevelle” embroidered floor mats, and a vintage-look AM/FM stereo with over $3500 recently spent upgrading the audio system and adding an alarm.

The Budnik polished-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a tilting Ididit steering column and fronts Dakota Digital gauges including a 160-mph speedometer, 8k-rpm tachometer, and a combination gauge. The digital odometer shows under 4k miles, total mileage is unknown.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear axle with a 3.36:1 gear ratio. The replacement 383ci stroker V8 was reportedly installed at the time of the refurbishment and is equipped with individual throttle bodies, Inglese electric fuel injection, a Zoops serpentine belt system, a Be Cool aluminum radiator, a 130 amp alternator, and ceramic coated headers. A complete service was completed 4/22.
