This Corvette fuelie convertible represents the pinnacle of performance for 1963. The L84 fuel injected engine was Chevrolet’s most powerful offering that year with a factory rating of 360 hp. Combined with a 4-speed manual transmission, it delivers a superb classic Corvette driving experience.

Built in May 1963, this numbers-matching red/red example is an older restoration that still holds up well. It was repainted its original color of Riverside Red. The body gaps all look excellent and the bonding strips appear original and untouched. We do not see any signs of stress cracks or accident repair anywhere on the car. Everything is solid and complete underneath as well. This convertible has both a white soft top in very good condition along with a red hard top (which has the best fit I’ve ever seen on a mid-year). The wheels have the correct covers and wear nice looking white stripe tires.

The entire drivetrain is original to the car. The engine is the legendary fuel injected 327ci 360hp package (L84). Its stamping pad shows an assembly date of April 17, 1963 with the correct RF suffix code. The pad also includes the matching partial VIN (3116259). The 4-speed transmission is also original and has the same partial VIN stamping. And finally, the rear end has an assembly date of May 21, 1963 with a CE code (4.11 Positraction). This Corvette is an absolute blast to drive! It is plenty fast, and listening to that engine while running through the gears with the wind rushing by will have you smiling all the way.

The red interior really makes the car pop. It is in good condition throughout and is completely stock. A remarkable aspect on this one is how everything works, and I do mean everything. Of course you have the speedo, gauges, headlights, dash lights, courtesy lights, turn signals, horn, wipers, AM/FM radio, heater/defroster, and parking brake. But you also have a functional clock, glove box light, and flashing bulbs for the parking brake and headlight warning systems. It’s these little things that you don’t usually see on other classic Corvettes.

Mid-year fuelies have proven to be a good investment, and examples like this one can be hard to find. It is a quality car with a numbers-matching drivetrain, but is also completely functional and so much fun to drive! It really captures the spirit of these old Corvettes. Let this one show you what they are all about.
